Loving - Kindness Audio
- Describe your experience. Did you find it beneficial? Difficult? Why or why not?
My experience after listening to the loving-kindness audio was good and
needed after traveling to Tennessee to our farm on an emergency trip due to
tenants giving one day notice that they were leaving early, finding the house a
mess, missing items, and trash people leave behind. It is hard to find loving
kindness in my heart. It would not be so heart breaking but we just finished in
a law suit by our previous tenant who did major damage just to find a mess
again. I guess the saddest thing is that people tell you something totally
different than what they do. We were told that the place was left just as they
found when they arrived from Wyoming (we had it professional cleaned prior to
their arrival). They gave us six months’ notice as required by our lease
agreement and we offered if we could find someone either to buy or lease to
they could be on their way to Alaska where the he works and worked prior to
moving here. They were glad to show the property but this is not what they
decided to do…So with all of this going on and taking 18 hours this semester, I
did find it difficult to listen as mind jumped from one place to another but
reading the information from Dacher’s Integral Health I was able to get more
out of it. I guess now is the perfect time to begin this mind training, right!
I did enjoy to ocean sounds in the audio…very soothing!

Yes I would
recommend to others, due to the fact that loving-kindness would include sharing
with others in my opinion.
- What is the concept of "mental workout"? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a mental workout? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?
Mental workout is brain exercise to help expand and develop a compassionate
mental state of consciousness. Research shows “mental training can transform
the mind by reducing disturbing emotions that cause anger, hatred, fear, worry,
confusion and doubt while enhancing positive emotions” promotes well-being
(Dacher, 2006).

ReplyDeleteSorry for all the trouble you are having with your rental. I also enjoyed the loving kindness exercise and I am trying to incorporate it into my daily life. Every time I have a negative thought about someone I am reminding myself to send them loving kindness. I think it may take us a while to train our minds but it can be done. Best of luck and maybe you should consider a large security deposit that way you are covered. That would be showing yourself loving kindness!

DeleteThank you, we have ask $2000 and my husband decided to let them in for a $1000 and now today, I found out they never changed the electricity into their name and my husband received a recorded message waking him in a dead sleep saying the electric was subject to be turned off. He thought it was a wrong number but when I called today I found out they did not pay Jan 161.68 or Feb which is due on the 7th 194.32. The saga continues...
We of course had to pay Jan,s bill to keep electricity on of I would be sitting in the dark...

ReplyDeleteI have spent the last 20 years working with rental property so I understand your frustration. The best advise I can offer is to 3 reference checks and ask don't be afraid to ask direct questions. I have found that 2 of the 3 may praise them, but 1 is going to tell you the truth. If they can't give you three rental references, then search deep within yourself and go with your gut feeling.
I found the exercise to really be beneficial after several tries. The sound of the ocean made it relaxing, but once I was able to focus on that loving feeling, my day was full of peace and joy. I was easy for me to switch my thoughts from sad/bad to peace and joy. I have decided it was worth trying to make it part of my routine. It really helped me. Hope you will reap the benefits too.

DeleteWow I do not think I could spend thirty years in this business. This is the only rental we have and the only place we own. We do not know if we will come back to Tennessee from Texas or not but we would like to place not to be totally distressed if we come back to our 27 acre farm.
I am going to practice some more on getting my mind focus on loving kindness tonight once I get a bath and right before bed. In the morning I am sure I will wake up a new woman.

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry to hear that your tenants just packed up and pretty much left without giving proper notice! It seems not many people show loving kindness which makes it even more difficult for us to show it back.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the loving kindness exercise was able to help you. I have found that the times when my mind is far from being calm is the perfect time to do such an exercise as we did.
